The BME Social Prescribing service provides support for people from diverse communities within the geographical boundaries of the Ipswich and East Suffolk Clinical Commissioning Group in a culturally relevant and sensitive environment. Many of the staff at BSCMS are bilingual however where necessary telephone interpreting can also be provided to overcome language barriers.
It is a confidential, non-judgemental service that can support people with long term health conditions to improve their health and wellbeing by discussing issues they are facing, exploring what matters to the individual and looking at what relevant services and activities are available.
The service can support people with non-medical issues including:
- welfare benefits and finance issues
- social isolation & loneliness
- housing issues
- healthy lifestyle choices
- access to other services by signposting or referrals
